Special requirements for the processing technology of PCABS

Printed circuit boards are indispensable components in modern electronic devices, and ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer), as a common thermoplastic, has been widely used in PCB manufacturing due to its good mechanical properties, processability and chemical corrosion resistance. However, when ABS is processed into printed circuit boards, its process has some special requirements.

First, ABS material is hygroscopic, so it must be fully dried before processing. This usually requires drying at a temperature of 80-90℃ for at least 2 hours to ensure that the moisture content in the material is controlled below 0.1% to avoid bubbles during processing or affect the performance of the circuit board.

Secondly, the melting temperature range of ABS is 210-280℃, and the recommended processing temperature is 245℃. During the processing, the heating temperature and mold temperature need to be precisely controlled to ensure that the ABS material can be evenly melted and smoothly fill the mold. The mold temperature is generally controlled at 25-70℃, which will affect the finish and dimensional stability of the plastic part.

In addition, the injection pressure of ABS material is also one of the key parameters. In order to ensure the structural integrity and precision of the circuit board, the injection pressure needs to be between 500-1000bar, and the injection speed should be moderate to avoid internal stress or deformation.

During the processing, attention should also be paid to the fluidity of ABS material. Since the melt viscosity of ABS is less sensitive to temperature, its viscosity cannot be reduced by blindly increasing the temperature. Therefore, its fluidity can be improved by increasing the screw speed or pressure to ensure that the material can evenly fill the mold.

In short, the processing technology of PCABS requires strict control of parameters such as material drying, heating temperature, mold temperature, injection pressure and speed to ensure the quality and performance of the product. These special requirements not only reflect the uniqueness of ABS materials in PCB manufacturing, but also provide PCB manufacturers with more choices and possibilities.
